Details of Award
For gallant conduct during the assault on the enemy's position at Rangiriri, in New Zealand, on the 20th November, 1863, together with another officer, in exposing their lives to imminent danger, in crossing the entrance of the Maori keep, at a point upon which the enemy had concentrated their fire, with a view to render assistance to the wounded and more especially to the late Captain Mercer, of the Royal Artillery.

1873 - Surgeon Major stationed in Portsmouth and in charge of the Station Hospital, Portsea
1877 - Staff Surgeon
1884-1889 Served in India, Lieutenant-Colonel and as Secretary to Surgeon-General of the Indian Army Medical Services
1885 - Brigade Surgeon
1886-1889 Honorary Surgeon to His Excellency the Viceroy of India, in recognition of his services to India
1889 - Retired
