For 150 years the people of Portsmouth have been burying their dead in Highland Road Cemetery and given the prominent part that the city has played in the history of the nation it is not surprising that there should be many people of note buried here.
The Friends have assembled a large amount of information about the occupants of the cemetery and continue to extend their knowledge. Much of that currently available is presented on the following pages under these categories:-
On many of the graves there are memorials to family members who died in the two World Wars and other conflicts but who are buried in foreign fields or have no known grave. Some of them are available on the Memorials In Portsmouth website.
Please Note that while the Friends have expended much effort in researching the people buried at Highland Road, the articles they have written should not be taken as definitive accounts.
